The applied chemistry and chemical engineering department
of Dhaka University celebrated its 40th
anniversary on Saturday amid festivity.
A daylong programme was held on the campus, featuring colourful procession,
discussion, reminiscence and cultural functions.
Industries minister Dilip Barua inaugurated the
ceremony at the Teacher-Student Centre releasing balloons and pigeons where the
vice-chancellor of the university, AAMS Arefin Siddique, was present as special
guest.
Later on, a discussion meeting was at the TSC
auditorium.
The department professor AI Mustafa, also BCSIR
chairman, chaired the discussion.
Pro-vice-chancellor (education) Professor Nasrin Ahmed,
pro-vice-chancellor (administration) Professor Shahid Akter Hussain, treasurer
Md Kamal Ahamed and dean of biology faculty, Muhammad Sheikh-ul-Islam among
others were also present on the occasion.
