Man kills mother-in-law in N’ganj

A man killed his mother-in-law at her residence of village Mamudpur under Fatulla model thana in Narayanganj Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Rokeya Begum, 55, wife of Abdul Barek Sardar.

Quoting family, police said Rokeya Begum’s daughter Maleka Akter Nipa was an expatriate in Greece for the past years.

Maleka’s husband Abdul Khalek came to his father-in-law’s Saturday night and picked altercation with his mother-in-law over family matter.

At one point of the altercation, Khalek took a sharp weapon and hacked her indiscriminately, leaving Rokeya Begum dead on the spot.

Locals handed over the killer to the police soon after the incident.

Abdul Khalek, 35, resident of Badda in the capital city, married Maleka eight years ago and they had a six-year-old daughter.

As a result of conjugal feud, Maleka went to Lebanon for earning money and later was shifted to Greece, police said.

The body of Rokeya was sent to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for post-mortem-examination.

A murder case was filed in this connection.
