Woman hacked to death by ex-husband in Narsingdi

A woman was hacked to death by her former husband at village Baherchar under Raipura thana of Narsingdi Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Shahera Begum, 50, resident of the same village.

Police said Bachhed Mia, son of Shahera, married Lipi, daughter of Nurul Islam of the same village, about two years ago.

Shahera divorced her first husband and married her brother-in-law Nurul Islam about eight month ago on the condition of getting a piece of Nurul’s land after marriage.

A few days ago, Shahera divorced her second husband as well as he did not give her any land.  

After receiving the divorce letter, Nurul, along with his daughter Lipi, attacked Shahera and hacked her with sharp weapons.

Hearing scream, neighbours rescued Shahera and sent her to Narsingdi Zila Hospital, where the attending doctor declared her dead.

Locals also caught Nurul Islam and Lipi and handed them over to the police, officer-in-charge Mamunul Haque said.

The Raipura police sent the body to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.

A case was filed.
